On 28 May 2025, Atifa successfully carried out a Ship-to-Ship (STS) operation utilizing its own dedicated marine facility, Atifa also have own plot which is fully managed by Atifa. This operation demonstrated Atifa’s capability to provide end-to-end marine logistics solutions with full control over infrastructure, equipment, and safety procedures. The operation involved the deployment of Atifa’s rental pneumatic fenders, ensuring vessel safety and minimizing hull contact during the mooring and cargo transfer phases.
Ship to Ship Operation
Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations refer to the direct transfer of cargo, personnel, or supplies between two seagoing vessels positioned alongside each other. These transfers are common in the maritime industry and are performed under strict planning and safety guidelines. Typical types of STS operations include oil and gas transfers (such as crude oil, marine gas oil, marine fuel oil), bulk cargo transfers (like coal or grains), bunker operations, and personnel or supply transfers. The operation conducted by Atifa falls under these crucial categories and required detailed coordination and oversight.
Transferring Fuel to Ship
Key components of this STS operation included pre-operation planning, such as vessel compatibility assessments, port authority approvals, and weather checks. During the operation, secure mooring and positioning of vessels were ensured using Yokohama-type fenders supplied by Atifa. The cargo transfer phase was handled with precision, involving the connection of manifolds, real-time monitoring, and constant VHF communication between the vessels. Following the transfer, a thorough post-operation debrief and equipment retrieval were conducted to ensure procedural compliance and safety.
The entire STS operation adhered strictly to IMO regulations, including MARPOL and SOLAS conventions. A Qualified Person Of All Advisory Control (POAC) was designated for each vessel, and all necessary safety equipment—including firefighting systems and oil spill response kits—was on standby. With the successful execution of this STS operation on its own plot and using in-house resources, Atifa has once again proven its expertise in handling high-risk marine logistics with professionalism, safety, and efficiency.
